PAC FUNDED EXCITING ENHANCEMENTS (to name just a few!)
Arts Umbrella Drama and Fine Arts In-School Program
The teachers are pleased to have PAC fund this exciting program in which Arts Umbrella will lead 6 concentrated sessions for each Division: a combination of fine arts and drama classes.
Guitars
Teachers really wanted to have access to more music in-school. A handful of the teachers play guitar so they requested at set to be able to work with the kids during school hours and for performances etc. PAC has purchased 30 guitars for in-school use, and as well, we are offering lunchtime and after-school lessons!
Laptops
Last year, PAC purchased a set of 30 laptops. They never ever get a chance to rest! They are used every second of every day. So, we just purchased another set of 30, which will arrive in about a week! The laptops are used by all the Divisions; there are all buddy systems between older students and youngers, and joint projects! Very exciting!
YEAH WE KNOW IT’S ALL ABOUT THE NOT HAVING TO MAKE LUNCHES TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS! HERE ARE YOUR HOT LUNCH UPDATES!
NEW HOT LUNCH MENU ITEMS!
We have added lots of new menu items this fall and have kept many favourites! Chow Mein, Yakitori Skewers, Thai Lemongrass Chicken or Rice and other fun new dishes added in amongst faves such as pasta meatballs, quesadillas, sushi, butter chicken and burgers. We are offering a larger slice of pizza this term from Panago (which is recommended from VCH as a ‘choose often’ pizza). And to stave off any November blues, we’re launching a Taco Thursday!
PRICE is now $6/Meal.
We held the same price of $5.50/meal for the past 2 years. However the food cost prices of everything have increased quite a bit and we are using extensively far more free range, organic and non-gmo, gluten free ingredients and products. So we have increased our Hot Lunch meal price to $6/meal. The sibling discount is now $1.50 > $4.50/meal.
NO MORE PAYPAL PLEASE!!
As you know, Hudson Hot Lunch is our PAC/school’s main Fundraiser. Other than our supplementary Direct Donation campaign, the Hot Lunch program is the only source of funding for all the wonderful programs, initiatives and events with which we are able to enhance our children’s school experience.
We realized that in the 2014-15 school year, the Hudson PAC paid over $2000 in Paypal/credit card fees. We tried last year to encourage fewer transactions and more cash and cheque payments but ultimately we still lost a huge bundle of money to the plastic! This year we want not to lose that amount money. We’d rather use it for the students!
PAC PREFERRED PAYMENT OPTIONS
Cash
Please bring the cash in an envelope to the School Office with your name and child(ren)’s name on it. Exact change please! Even if you want to order for the whole term, you can pay in installments such as once a month. Just drop a line to Hot Lunch Coordinator to let us know! Just complete each term’s payments by end each term please. Please indicate your child’s full name and division on envelope.
Cheque
Please make out the cheque to Hudson PAC and note that it is for Hot Lunch. For those needing to stagger the payments, you may provide post-dated cheques. All payments for the term must be complete by the end of each term. Please make sure each cheque indicates your child(ren)’s full name and Division.

2016 RBC Run for the Kids (formerly CHILDRUN)
School Team Name: Team Hudson
Re: Early Bird Registration Ends April 18th, 2016
Once again, Team Hudson will be participating in the RBC Run for the Kids on Sunday, June 5th, 2016. This is a great community ‘fun run’ event for individuals and groups to exercise their support for sick kids across our province. Families can choose to walk/run on the 5KM route or the 2KM route near Riley Park (just east of Nat Bailey Stadium) followed by a carnival celebration. All proceeds go toward childhood cancer research and treatment as well as pediatric mental health initiatives at BC Children’s Hospital.
Last year, our team had 55 members register for this event and altogether we raised an amazing $2,372 (plus TWO $1,000 matching gifts from Chip’s Challenge) for BC Children’s hospital. It was truly an inspirational day and we greatly appreciated your tremendous support. We are pleased to report that for this year’s event, we are currently ranked as the top school team in fundraising. This is in large part due to the wonderful success of our January bake sale — a BIG thank you to all the volunteers who either donated baked goods or helped out with the event, and to those who came out to show their support by buying one (or more) of our delicious items. Next up…we are hosting our popcorn sale on Friday, April 1st and our popular ice cream sale on Friday, June 3rd.
The Early Bird deadline for RBC Run for the Kids is approaching. Save $5 when you register before April 18th. If you would like to donate or join our team, please:
1. Go to https://secure.bcchf.ca/SuperheroPages/team.cfm?Team=10106&Event=RFTK
