Typically the newsletter is sent out monthly (on the first week of the month- by Friday) from the Principal and Vice-Principal.

• Please drop off your child outside the school at the designated place. School staff meet the children at 8:55 for walking into the school together. If you are late, please send your child to the office table to sign themselves in or accompany small children to sign in.
• Please use the attendance phone line or e- mail to report absences 24/7.
  E-mailing your child’s teacher in consideration but not sufficient for safe arrival tracking purposes.

On June 19th, 2027 at a school wide Indigenous Peoples Day celebration, the new logo was unveiled. Student leaders shared how our country, province, and school are on a journey of reconciliation. We are trying to promote Indigenous ways of knowing, history, art, and culture so that we can increase equity, inclusion and belonging in our communities.

About the Artist:
Amber Cornick | Sent’la is a xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam)
She taught us that hawks are known for their sharp vision, a quality that symbolizes perceptiveness, clarity, and wisdom. Often symbolizing strong awareness and the importance of observing your surroundings beyond the surface level; the hawk encourages us to stay attentive to the relationships and responsibilities around us. The hawk in this logo rises in a steady upward arc, offering lift and guidance to those moving along their academic journey. Its form is shaped through Coast Salish design elements (crescents, trigons, and circles) that echo the movement of energy throughout our environment; often found on traditional Coast Salish spindle whorls. The red tones represent the earthy red of tumuth and its protective spiritual properties, carrying our connection to the land and the teachings it provides. Note: This design was created using traditional Coast Salish design elements incorporated with contemporary colours and my personal art style. Animal symbolism/association varies with each Nation or family’s teachings.
Artist Biography:
Amber Cornick, Sent’la, is a self-taught Musqueam artist who lives, works, and creates on the Musqueam Reserve in Vancouver, with familial ties to Squamish, Gitxsan, and Lummi. Amber is an emerging artist, creating Coast Salish art for 4 years and has 3 years of AP (advanced placement) art experience from secondary school. She is currently studying biology at UBC.

In 2025/2026 EarthBites successfully ran the school gardening program. Hudson administration, teachers and students with the support of the PAC, installed the watering system, filled the garden beds with soil and planted a beautiful garden. With EarthBites leading the educational garden program, and Hudson community members supporting the summer watering and harvesting, the garden program was a success.
Updates for 2026/2027 to coming.

The PAC creates individual WhatsApp groups for each division each year. These groups are rolled out in September once the divisions are set. Please watch for communications via the PAC newsletter or divisions teacher. These groups are intended to be used by parent and guardians in an effort to increase community connection. Leslie Phelan will be creating our mural, she is a local mural artist and founder of Killer Ice Cream, where her brought her creativity to the storefront. Leslie has generously volunteered her time and materials (including paint) at no cost to the school, reflecting a strong commitment to community engagement and public art.

Welcome to Hudson Coffee
Back to School BBQ

Over the summer (August 2026) the 2 beautiful mud kitchen’s that the PAC had purchased have been installed in the garden area, next to the harvest table. Hudson administration in support of the PAC has filled the area of authentic kitchen items for the kids to play and learn in that space. To support the longevity of the kitchen items, the school will bring these in and out each school day (during school hours) to allow the kids to explore during their time at school.

This is a snapshot of what we accomplished in 2025/2026.  Last year we thrived, and our success was because of the hard work of our PAC community.  We will keep this momentum going into this year, re-affirming our goals of community building, fundraising, and sponsorship development, all in support of the secondary playground project and other grounds improvement initiatives. 

In 2024/2025 the PAC raised over $200,000 to go toward the accessible play structure in the back courtyard. This project was successfully completed and opened in October 2025.
