SPRING BREAK GYMNASTICS CAMPS
Did your children enjoy the fantastic gymnastics program we hosted at Henry Hudson this last month? Well, Kits Gymnastics Club is offering Spring Break Gymnastics Camps at Lord Tennyson School Gym, with lots more fun challenges for your kids (including inflatables and trampoline!)
MARCH 9TH-13TH
9am-2:30pm
$200 for the week
$40 daily drop in (if space is available)
MARCH 16th, 17th 18th
9am-2:30pm
MTW only
$120 for three days, or $40 per drop in day (if space is available)
Please pack water, lunch, snacks. etc. Gymnastics takes place all morning. Monitored Lunch break is followed by afternoons of mixed sport activities and some excursions.

Weekly Reminders for January 26-30, 2015

Monday, January 26th
If you didn’t order any spirit wear it’s not too late. Henry Hudson Hawk t-shirts in youth sizes (small to x-large) will be for sale Monday Jan. 26 from 3 to 3:30 in the covered area by the gym. $10 each – please bring exact change if possible. There will also be a very limited amount of hoodies/sweatshirts in SMALL SIZES ONLY for sale. $30 for hoodies, $16 for crew neck sweatshirts (again exact change is appreciated).
**Our first school-wide spirit day will take place in February. Let’s paint the school red!

Thursday, January 29 — DPAC advocacy workshop
Vancouver District Parent Advisory Council, the district-level PAC to which each individual school PAC is affiliated, is hosting a City Wide Advocacy Workshop, 6:30 pm at the VSB offices at West Broadway and Fir.
How can parents advocate for quality public education? Please see the attached DPAC newsletter for more details, as well as other DPAC events coming up in the coming week.
The DPAC newsletter also contains a link to SACY workshops for parents; SACY is the school district’s School Age Children and Youth – Substance Use Prevention Initiative. Information about this program is at www.vsb.bc.ca/sacy/workshops

HOT LUNCH VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED:
Two volunteers needed on the following four dates in February:

and
Friday, Feb. 20th (11am to 2pm)
(It’s a Friday hot lunch due to the Pro-D day on the Thursday).

SPIRIT WEAR UPDATE:
Spirit wear has arrived! As mentioned above, pick up your pre-ordered Spirit Wear at the covered area by the gym after school on Tuesday.
If you missed out ordering this time, PAC will have some youth t-shirts to sell once we’ve handed out the pre-ordered items.

*Gymnastics program for all grades during gym time (sponsored by PAC) is on all month long. Be aware that gym days may be slightly different than usual this month. Please make sure to send students with proper attire for stretching, hanging, moving and tumbling. Girls may prefer leggings to tights for barefoot manoeuvres.
Hudson family needs after school care on Tuesdays:
We are looking for after school care, 1 day a week, on Tuesdays, for our son Kai McWilliam. He is in Madame Chrystel’s class, Grade 2, division 13F. We are looking to “Nanny share” with another family, or hire someone to pick Kai up at 3pm, and take care of him until 5:30pm.

Hudson Winter Fair is a festive, fun filled event for the whole family to enjoy! It’s not a fundraiser; It’s a fun-raiser! (ticket sales are to cover costs for event expenses!) We look forward to seeing you there!

Reminders November 24-28 2014

Last week for comfort kits to come into classrooms. These kits will be stored in our earthquake shed next week so please have them in by the end of this week if you wish to submit one.
Friday, November 28th:
District Pro-D Day – no school for students
Winter Fair – Dec 12th, 3 to 6 PM in the gym – still needs many more donations and volunteers – please help if you can!
Donations: any kind of product in bottle – juice, wine, bubble bath etc. – for string pull and adult-appropriate new or nearly new presents for the Kids Only Market. Please leave at the office. Without these items we won’t be able to offer these two very popular stations at the Winter Fair.
Volunteers: thank you to those who have volunteered. We still need people to help with set up and man stations (raffles etc.) for an hour or so during the fair. E-mail Carly Krug – krug@passport.ca if you can spare some time for this fun event.
